I definitely appreciate what she’s bringing to the zeitgeist because some dissenting opinions to therapy culture need to exist. Unfortunately I think her arguments and points fall short and leave me feeling she doesn’t know much about what therapy looks like for most people. In the end the real problem in my eyes is not therapy but the ethos of safetyism that the West has adopted. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for reading – I think there's a strong case to be made that something in the West's ethos drives an unhealthy therapeutic culture and bad therapy is merely one symptom.

How does this play out in other cultures and societies, I wonder?

Is therapy seen as a panacea whilst merely performing a band-aid? How to face the problem before it starts?

Good question. I don't know and expect the answer is heavily context specific.

Therapy culture could be an improvement to some places, serious setback for others.
