This post seems to ignore an unfortunate truth. The wave of revelation has dredged up not just minor infractions by minor heroes; It's exposed childhood-shattering atrocities. Think Cosby. I don't think anybody secretly wanted TV-dad to be an abuser.
That being said I agree it is easy to write off the positive of a hero with a single mistaken stroke.
Recently I've been thinking how morality is neither convenient or inconvenient. It's aconvenient. Critically examining one's relationship with a hero given the light of negative information is extremely inconvenient. Easier to just be done with the whole thing. There's a couple of recyclable cans in this bag of trash; fuck it, imma toss the whole thing in the black bin.
